The exigence of this comic is the desire to make people laugh.

Before I took this class, I really had no idea what exigence meant although I’d heard of it before. I now know that it’s the motivation behind writing something. Understanding exigence allowed me to improve my writing because before I wrote anything I would stop and ask myself “why am I doing this?”. Once I understood my own exigence, it was easy to identify it in others, and my own writing became far more passionate and focused.
